What is website hosting?  It is a term used to describe where your web site is "served" from.  A "server" (usually a very large bank of computers) stores your website.  When someone types in your site "domain name" or clicks to your site the hosting server sends the site/ web page to the viewer's browser/ computer/ cell phone/ whatever. 

Website hosting is NOT maintenance or updating websites.
